Kaoshiong, Taiwan (高雄之旅, 台湾)

It was second day of journey for our mission---> travel around Taiwan. From this days onward, we were traveling together with car rental's driver, Mr Chen. In general, he is a polite, kind, gentleman and decent man that we've traveled along together.

Our second day of journey was from Kenting (墾丁) to Kaoshiong (高雄). Kaoshiong is located at southern-western of Taiwan, which also second largest city after Taipei. You can get CHEAP, AFFORDABLE, FRESH and TASTY seafood here as this city is facing the Taiwan strait.

Somehow, there were not much places that we have visited in Kaoshiong as we were traveling all the way from Kenting. It was about 2 hours journey. In between of the journey, we do stopped by at a place named ChuHuo (出火特别景观区). It is a place where the gas emitted naturally to produce fire on the ground.

ChuHuo Station (出火特别景观区)

After our 2 hours of journey, we reached Gushan Ferry Pier (鼓山轮渡站)in Kaoshiong. This is a ferry port that connects the Gushan and Qijin district (旗津半岛) of Kaoshiong, Taiwan. Tourists used to take boat to reach the opposite island which is a popular attraction in Kaoshiong. Somehow, during our visit, there was long queue outside the ferry ports so we decided to drive to Qijin district.

Gushan Ferry Pier (鼓山轮渡站)

Before we leaved Gushan Ferry Pier, our tour guide has recommended us for some dessert which located near to Gushan Ferry Pier. Hai Zhi Bing (海之冰) is an ice shaved dessert shop. Although their dessert doesn't look luxury, but it worth the price and taste.

I personally felt that this was the awesome one from what we have chosen.

After craving for desserts, we leaved Gushan district and drove to Qijin island. Qijin island is a well known fish markets with fresh seafoods. It's good to have a local people to guide you so you won't miss out the best restaurant on the island.

We went to Wan Er Restaurant (萬二,旗津) for our lunch. Every dishes were around NTD100 to NTD200 (RM12 - RM24). There were free rice and water provided. Besides that, there were also beverages (mainly fruit juices) sold with the price of NTD25 per big bottle.

Our next station was Pier-2 Art center (驳二艺术特区). This art center was a transformation from abandoned warehouse at which this place was initially an industrial city. There were a pair of sculpture as the symbolic of this art center. There are different painted sculpture in just few steps away along the street.

Kenting, Taiwan (墾丁,台湾)

Hey there, I'm glad to share the moment we were at Taiwan. We spent 3 weeks at Taiwan in conjunction to complete our clinical attachment. So the last one week mainly for us to travel the other part of Taiwan. Here was our first destination for the one week travel around Taiwan.

Kenting is a wonderful paradise located at southern of Taiwan. It was Summer during our visit which the weather was totally hot and humid yet we found it was a pleasurable place to go during Summer.

We have booked the train Ticket in advance as the ticket may sold out. We took midnight bus (Guo Guang Bus-国光客运) at 12am from Taipei Station to Kaoshiong that costs NTD470 per head. We reached Guo Guang Bus station of Kaoshiong at 4.30am. Then heading to Kenting by Taxi. It accommodate 6 of us until our homestay at Kenting for NTD2000 per way. Taxi driver was so nice that he stopped us in a famous breakfast shop nearby to Guo Guang Bus station in Kaoshiong before heading to Kenting.

After a long journey, we had reached our hotel at Kenting Feng-Zhi leasure Hotel (墾丁豐緻休閒旅店) by 7.00am. Receptionist was so nice and tolerable. We were allowed to check-in in advance as to get enough sleep before we start our journey around Kenting. This hotel location was so convenient as it was near to Kenting Night Market and few convenient shops around it.

  1.                         This is a room of 6 , costs NTD5000/ per night

After a wonderful rest, it's time to start our journey. There was a One-day Shuttle bus service provided for tourist with the price of NTD150 per head. This service provides unlimited rides to passengers and there are timetable provided in the link below. Don't waste your money in renting a car in Kenting as it doesn't worth the price unless you have less time to stay at Kenting.

One-day Kenting Shuttle bus pass (NTD150)

You can plan your own trip based on the shuttle bus route

1st Destination: Eluanbi (鵝鑾鼻)

Eluanbi is 10 minutes away from our hotel. There is entrance fee required for this place. NTD20 with student card (Foreign student's card are acceptable). Main spot in this area was Eluanbi Lighthouse as it was the sounthernmost spot of Taiwan. Since we were travelling around with the shuttle bus, so we only spent less than one hour here as the bus service resume every one hour.

Eluanbi Lighthouse (鵝鑾鼻灯塔)

Souvenir!!! Souvenir!!!

Next, before we heading to another spot, we had stopby at Heng Chuan Station for lunch. Well, for us as a budget traveler and yet still a student, we don't mind eating at convenient shop for a cup of instant mee. Somemore, it taste so delicious. Yummy.. ^.^

2nd Destination: HouBiHu (後壁虎)

Houbihu is a fishing harbor for Heng Chuan area. I guess for lots of people, this place will be Heaven for seafood. You can get cheap, fresh and affordable seafood here, but with condition that you need ti put more patience towards long queue especially during peak season. It worth the try if you have more time. Heard someone said that 20 pcs of Sashimi with the price of NTD120. Too bad we didn't have chances to try the seafood as we were rushing to another place.

3rd Destination: MaoBiTou (猫鼻頭)

In chinese name, Maobitou means cat's head. It was the wave that hit the coral rocks and formed the shape of cat's head. Besides that, it is a nice scenic place with gusting wind that formed nice wave on the rocks. BEWARE of your umbrella. It might broken because of the strong gust of wind.

4th Destination: BaiSha a.k.a White Sand Bay (白沙)

I guess in a good weather, this place will definitely be awesome. This is the beach that we can find in Kenting. We used to watch Western summer feast fro movie. So when we reached this beach, it seems like Asian summer feast. Just it lacks of party here. Couldn't get much pretty pictures here as Typhoon was almost reach few days after we leaved Kenting.

5th Destination: Kenting Night Market (墾丁夜市)

Kenting night market is among those well known night market in Taiwan. It is located about 2 minutes walk from our hotel.  Kenting night market just 2 minutes away from our hotel. This is a long night market as it was along the Kenting street. There are varieties of food stalls, swimwear stuff, souvenirs, restaurants and convenient shops along these night market.

6th Destination: Chuan Fan Shi (船帆石)

Chuan Fan Shi sounds like the rock forming sails on the water in chinese. And yet what I saw was a rock forming human head. We headed this place the next morning after having our breakfast as we can't make it the day before.
